Nina Geling

Nina Geling was born into a Russian-Ukrainian family in Kasan on the Volga. She began painting as a child but decided to study medical biochemistry. She did her PhD at the Cardiological Centre, Moscow, and worked many years in heart research. In 1993 she reversed direction completely, and returned to her art. Nina Geling was taught by the Rumanian artist Mihail György and the Russian painter Alexandra Tokarewa. She studied at the Academy of Fashion Design “JAK”, Hamburg with Bernd Mölk-Tassel and Dieter Böge. From 1993 onwards, she and her husband, sculptor Ekkahart Bouchon, have been working in creative collaboration to establish intercultural ties, particularly with Russia. The artists Geling-Bouchon created the idea of “Variability in art” – a theme which runs through all their works. Together, they have held exhibitions in Russia, Rumania, France, Lithuania and Germany. In both Germany and Russia, they have organised master classes, seminars, international festivals, the EU LOS-projects, as well as art therapy courses with children from kindergarten, regular schools and boarding schools for orphans. In 2003 the artist couple opened their non-commercial gallery Galerie Dreiklang in Hann. Münden. Exhibitions and concerts take place there regularly, and from Russia alone more than thirty artists and musicians have had the opportunity to perform or display their works
